Abstract:

This research was done with the aim of investigating the necessity of involving the decision making process and latent variables in discrete Choice models to provide a more realistic representation of these models. Entering latent variables in discrete Choice models is initiated from the fact that the concept of Behavioral theory is concerned with the manner in which a decision is made, while discrete Choice models which are based on random utility hypothesis and economic consumer theory, are concerned with the observatory input and output variables. Discrete Choice models are often proposed as an optimizing black box since this model attaches the observable inputs directly to the observable output (Choice) and does not explain anything about the process of Choice formation, while behavioral theory tries to consider the process of forming and existing a decision to have a more realistic representation of the Choice process. In creating more realistic behavioral models, it can be said simply that, this method, considers hidden structures such as attitudes, perceptions and all concepts that influence the Choice. In this method, psychometric measures are used which are features of fundamental latent variables. The aim of the representation of this structure is developing a comprehensive framework and methodology, to incorporate latent factors, as descriptive variables in discrete Choice models. The method used in this research is a staged paradigm which is modeled in the first part of the latent variables using structural equation Modeling and the output of this part is used in the Choice model construction. The research findings also showed that entering latent variables in vehicle Choice model has a statistical significant effect and causes the model with latent variables to have a better estimate compared with the models without these variables. .

Abstract:

In order to investigate the effectiveness of traffic mitigation strategies and economic analysis of transportation projects, the dynamic Modeling of transportation network is necessary. In this regard, it is important to model the dynamic process of drivers' route Choice. Many models have been proposed for the Modeling of drivers' route Choice over the past decades, however only a few of them are dynamic, and most of them are static based on economic theories. In this paper, a dynamic (day-to-day) route Choice model is presented. The proposed model is implemented on a small test network, and the process of drivers' route Choice in several scenarios is discussed afterwards.Result may reflect the fact that the proposed approach can be considered as a promising method in the realm of day-to-day route Choice Modeling.

Abstract:

Today, the development of urbanization and the trend of increasing population in cities and the growing dependence of citizens on private cars, has caused many problems such as congestion increased accidents and environmental pollution. One of the most basic proposed solutions to the problem of congestion and air pollution in the world is the use of city trains as a means of public transport. In order to enjoy the benefits of this travel method as much as possible, it is necessary to know the factors influencing its Choice. In the present study, from the theory of behavioral inclination and using the information of 260 questionnaires distributed among users of Tehran city train line 2 (Sadeghieh-Farhangsara) and applying the method of structural equations to identify hidden factors affecting the Choice of transportation system Tehran city rail is launched. The results indicate the positive effect of four latent variables of service quality, perceived value, engagement, and satisfaction on behavioral desire. This means that with the increase of each of these variables, the behavioral tendency of people to use line 2 of the Tehran city train increases. Among the mentioned variables, the conflict has the most, and perceived value has the least effect on behavioral tendency. The results of this study can be used by transportation policymakers to encourage more people to use the city train and enjoy its benefits.

Abstract:

This study is a critical discourse analysis of Reader's Choice. The objectives of the research are to investigate the extent of ideological evasiveness and biases in this book, as well as to show whether the book may be suitable for being used as a textbook. To this end, four reading comprehension texts were chosen randomly from the book. These texts are: "The Midnight Visitor", "Sonar for the Blind", "Pockety Women Unite?", and "The 800 th Lifetime". The discursive structures of these texts have been studied according to Hodge and Kress's (1996) framework that consists of four features: naming, nominalization, active vs. passive sentences, and actional vs. relational sentences. The frequency of discursive structures have been measured in these texts. The results show that there was no evasive and biased structure in the book. Furthermore, according to the factors that have been focused in this study, the book proved to be a suitable textbook.

Abstract:

Background and Aim: In patients with complete denture, some clinicians have used modelling plastic impression compound (MPIC) along tissue conditioner (TC) materials simultaneously. Little information is available on the composition of these materials and the interaction between them. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the influence of two components of MPIC on the structure and chemical composition of TC.Materials and Methods: In this experimental study, MPIC specimens were provided in 25×2 mm discs. Specimens were randomly divided into three groups and were immersed in ethanol 70%, plasticizer (dibutyl phthalate) and a mixture of them (ethanol 70% and dibutyl phthalate). All of the discs were weighed with a digital balance before and 2, 4, 6 and 24 hours after immersion. Values were analyzed by non parametric Kruskal-Wallis (a= 0.05) and SPSS 16 for Windows (SPSS Inc., Chicago, IL) was used for statistical analysis. Results: Statistical analysis indicated significant differences among all groups (p>.05).Conclusion: Dibutyl phthalate (DBP) had high impact on the solubility of MP, while the mixture of dibutyl phthalate (DBP) and ethanol demonstrated the highest impact.

Abstract:

Background and Aim: There are different methods of oral health education for child population. Theater show is a method that has not received enough attention until now. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of using theater show on dental health education in Yazd female elementary students.Materials and Methods: This was a quasi experimental study performed by using pre- and post-test method in Iran over the year 2004. One elementary school from each region of the city was selected. Twenty students from each grade of each school were included in the study (n=200). The information on knowledge, attitudes and practice of oral health were collected by using a valid and reliable questionnaire before and after theater show performance. Data were analyzed using SPSS and Wilcoxon signed rank test. Results: This study showed that the theater show could improve knowledge, attitude and proper oral health practice of children. The effect of the theater show on knowledge was more than attitude and was more on attitude than practice (P<0.001). Only literacy on the part of mothers was significantly correlated with practice (P=0.021). There were significant correlations between Knowledge (P=0.020), Attitude (P=0.0001) and oral health Practice (P=0.022) with students' grade level. Conclusion: This study showed that using theater show for oral health education, could improve the oral health related knowledge, attitude and proper oral health practice by elementary school students.

Abstract:

Choice experiment as a subset of Choice Modeling approach is the newest method for calculating the value of non-market goods and estimating individuals' preferences in dealing with environmental goods. This study evaluates the individual preferences for different characteristics of the historical - recreational Ganjnameh site of Hamadan based on Lancastrian value theory and stochastic utility function. It uses the Choice experiment, the conditional Logit model with Weibull (Gumbel) distribution of disturbance terms and Housman- Mac Fadden method for testing Heteroskedasticity and equality of cross elasticities among options of a Choice set. The welfare effects of proposed policies can be computed using estimated willingness-to-pay for different levels of characteristics of an environmental good. Sampling was performed randomly among native and non-native tourists in summer 2011. About 216 out of 300 questionnaires were correctly completed that led to the 1296 observations in 3888 data lines. Results indicate that people have relatively high willingness-to-pay for policies adopted to preserve and improve the quality of various characteristics of ecosystem goods. People have the highest willingness-to- pay for preserving the ancient monuments, environmental health, cleanness of river water and maintaining forest diversity and natural landscape, respectively. The socio-economic variables such as age, being married, parenting, education levels, monthly household expenditure and locality result in increasing WTP.
